permanent make-up faq’s

  • Permanent Makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, Micropigmentation and Microblading, is a tattoo implanting pigment into the epidermis layer of the skin to mimic the look of conventional makeup.

    • Although its called Permanent Makeup, it does actually fade and top ups are required to maintain your results.

  • We would always recommend booking a consultation

This is to go through the procedures you would like and talk through your appointment with Robin.

    • Consultations are mandatory if you have previously had PMU elsewhere as there is a possibility Robin may not be able to go over this.

  • This varies from person to person. Factors such as skin type, diet, aftercare, genetics and environmental factors will vary the longevity of each procedure.

    • We typically advise clients to have a 'top-up' every 12-18 months to keep your permanent make-up looking fresh!

  • Robin will have a 1-2-1 consultation with you to talk about which procedures you would like, shape and desired outcome.

This will then be mapped out onto your skin for you to take a look at to ensure you're happy with the placement and shape before proceeding.

  • This is entirely dependant on the procedure and how many you would like on the day.

Typically an appointment can last from 2-3 hours.

    • For a more accurate time-frame, please speak to Robin regarding this.

  • The highest standards of health and safety are adhered to. All risks are minimised.

As the procedure involves implanting pigment into the skin, it is an invasive procedure. Like tattooing, the risks include allergic reactions, infection or scarring.

    • Fuller, better shaped eyebrows

    • Natural looking brows

    • Low maintenance

    • Can correct asymmetry and fill in any gaps

    • Waterproof and smudge proof!

It can help lips to appear fuller and add a border to lips that may have lost pigment and definition.

  • If you have recently had a coldsore, it is important to prepare for your appointment by taking a course of anti-viral medication.

    • We recommend consulting with your physician about which is best suited to yourself.

This is critical to the success of your treatment as it can trigger a reaction where the virus lays dormant and cause an outbreak.

This can be painful and can result in poor healing due to the lack of pigment retention.

    • Please ensure to keep your lips hydrated on the lead up to your appointment as dry lips are harder to work on and will negatively effect the healed result.

  • Yes!

These treatments go hand-in-hand. Please ensure to leave enough healing time between treatments. We recommend 6-8 weeks.

  • Like any treatment, there will be some pain involved due to the nature of the treatment. The factors regarding the pain will be determined by factors such as; your pain threshold, treatment and placement.

    • If you have any concerns, please speak to Robin regarding this as she will be able to talk you through this.
